Workshop / workshow upon Family and Memory | Queen Helena polyvocal play
A great summer was announced by Eu Collective Plays! collaborative events. Zetski dom, the Royal Theater of Montenegro, delivered this workshop designed and developed with La Fura dels Baus, with the direction of Pep Gatell involving students of Centinjske Akademije Dramskih. The workshop started on May 28th 2016, and the workshow’s final event was premiered on June 11th 2016.
Script elaborates the story of Maria Elena, legendary Princess of Italy, originally from Montenegro. Then a haunted playwriting and staging exhume and bring the Princess back to life, reconstructing her story within the period’s history and revealing universal symbols through a polyvocal and multimedia approach.
- Outside the theatre a poster "CLOSED: by death of Helena de Savoia". Among the actors also two zombies.
- They have become two scientists talking about false memories. We often recreate stories that have nothing to do with reality.
- The audience moves meeting characters telling about Helena's life. In their phones other witnesses.
- Finding Helena's sister.
- She is jealous because Helena is the "spoiled" of the family. She talks about the cruelty of her sister.
- She talks about the cruelty of her sister.
- She calls the worms that Helena uses when going fishing
- Helena travels to Saint Petersburg. An anonymous lover fights a duel for her.
- She knows Victor Manuel, Prince of Italy
- The doctor of Savoia family tells about the blood of Helena
- Audience is in the center of the story. Of the history.
- Earthquake in Messina, Helena comes in aid of the victims
- Playing within playing.
- Gestapo holds the Helena's doughter because the Royal Family does not adhere to Nazi movement.
- Nazism grows in Europe.
- In Italy the Republic wins.
- Death of Victor Manuel in Alexandria. Then Helena, left alone, travels to Montpelier where she dies.
- This not the end but the beginning of a collective adventure.
